ABSTRACT
This chapter surveys overwhelming experimental evidence that supports the existence of invisible matter and energy of unknown origin, known respectively as dark matter and dark energy. These entities contribute significantly to steering the dynamics of the cosmos at large scales, and their very nature and overpowering abundance are likely to trigger a paradigm shift in physics.
