ABSTRACT

Power HV cables to ether with generators and transformers form the basic system of energy networks. Therefore, diagnostics of their electrical and climatic properties is essential in increasing the reliability of these networks. The diagnostics of the own HV and VHV cables also includes the diagnostics of their connecting cable terminals. In addition to electrical strength, the basic electrical properties of power HV cables also include their throughput and leakage resistance, capacity, inductance, power dissipation, and wave impedance. The diagnostics of the properties of HV and VHV cables is based on the standard EN 61442 or older standards CSN 34 7010 and CSN 34 7405. According to these standards, the electrical resistance of HV cables, their through and leakage resistances, loss factor, the occurrence of partial discharges, and the place and extent of their possible failure are verified. These parameters should be determined not only during the production of cables but also during their further operation.
