ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 covers organic chemistry to include the synthesis and reactions of organic compounds such as alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic compounds, halides, alcohols, ethers, carboxylic acids, amides, amines, heterocyclic, and alicyclic compounds. The different types of isomers encountered in organic chemistry are discussed.

The polymer section has been revised and includes material on the different classes of polymers based on polymerization, molecular forces, structure, or natural or artificial sources. Common polymer structures are included as well as common polymer nomenclature.

Biochemistry is covered and includes discussion on carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, enzymes, and nucleic acids.
