ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 covers the qualitative separation and identification of inorganic cations and anions. Solubilities of compounds are listed. A qualitative analysis scheme is outlined for the different groups of cations, which include insoluble chlorides, acid-insoluble sulfides, base-insoluble sulfides, insoluble carbonates, and alkali metals.
Organic analysis is covered, and different classification tests are included to determine the presence of different organic functional groups.
A list of various laboratory reagents used in the qualitative analysis for the inorganic and organic compounds is included.
