ABSTRACT

Gauss's law, which we have studied earlier, states that the electric flux across a closed surface is proportional to the total enclosed charge, and its mathematical expression is: https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> ∯ Area E → ⋅ d a → = q enc  ϵ 0 https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003397496/c9619a4c-33ea-4757-afe2-97610a8ab4e4/content/math10_1.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> . This law expresses the relationship between electric charges and electric fields. We have also discussed that electrical charges come in two different types: positive and negative. The electric field and its flux point out of the positive charges, which act like a source, and flow into the negative charges, which act like a sink.
