ABSTRACT

With the efforts of the legal procedures, the practice of use of herbal drug products was harmonized throughout the world after the Beijing Declaration (8 November 2008) and made easier for free circulation of herbal products. Comparing with the global concern, Indian regulations are also made comprehensive by efforts of Drugs Controller General (India) (DCGI) and Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, and Siddha (AYUSH). The applicable step was taken by implementation of GMP and the certification of standard or premium categories of AYUSH drugs. Moreover, the complex licensing of herbal drugs was made clearer and easier. Harmonization of regulations and approval process overcome the barriers to efficient trade and standardized the herbal products throughout the world.
