ABSTRACT
To reduce loss of grape growers due to reduction in total production; production loss of grapes due to pests on grapes also should be controlled. As the proverb says, ‘prevention is better than cure’, in-advance forecasting of pests occurrence on vineyards can be a great help to grape growers as online IPM system can be developed for the same. This chapter describes how pest occurrence can be forecasted using computerized system having knowledge base on pests and running machine learning algorithms.
Use of image processing technique for agricultural decision support system is unavoidable. It can be used under all fields mentioned in the motivation. For quality management of pests and diseases on grapes, along with forecasting, detection and remedy of diseases are equally important. Corrective action taken in time helps grape growers a lot. An attempt is made in this work to detect diseases using image processing techniques.
