Developing recommendations is one of the last steps in the investigation process. Recommendations can be categorised in several ways, including

The timeframe of the recommendation.

The level of the recommendation.

The methods it uses to control the hazard.

Disciplinary actions should be avoided as part of the investigation process. Management has numerous responsibilities to resolve and implement the recommendations. Recommendations can be prioritised by using cost–benefit ratios as a guide. Finally, recommendation effectiveness can be assessed by using a recommendation assessment strategy.
