ABSTRACT

Chapter 19 discussed the WWW. The foundation protocol of the WWW is the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) which can be used in any client/server application involving hypertext. It is used in the WWW for transmitting information using hypertext jumps and can support the transfer of plaintext, hypertext, audio, images, or any Internet-compatible information. The most recently defined standard is HTTP 1.1, which has been defined by the IETF standard.
