ABSTRACT

The dynamics of ever-growing multinational and local demands additionally oblige organizations to be nimble and flexible and manage change effectively to address these evolutionary drives. Enterprises must extract themselves from the pseudo-comfort that holds the belief that they can control change, and eventually their own destiny. The ability to achieve organizational goals and to manage strategic and tactical operational change initiatives effectively and successfully is one of the most important competencies that organizations expect from their executives, managers, and employees. The most acknowledged instrument of change for organizations is Management by Programs and Projects and its application in Enterprise Project Management. Successful organizations recognize that experienced and highly skilled Project Managers are essential to project success. Companies that outclass in project management will ensure the retention of their Project Managers by providing them with career opportunities, training, and mentoring. This chapter presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book.
