ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic clearly had a profound effect across the world, and many people suffered. But animals were also affected. This short chapter sums up our final thoughts about how animals were treated and how we could do better next time. Lessons need to be learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is still spreading in the human population, albeit as new variants, and therefore the future needs to embrace a more holistic view and consider non-human animals too as we move into the future together.
