ABSTRACT
SKA Rating is a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors sustainability assessment method that helps landlords and tenants assess fit-out projects against a set of sustainability good practice criteria. Fit-out projects are typically of a short duration and vary widely in scope from a quick refresh to a minor refurbishment or a comprehensive fit-out programme. SKA Rating was designed by the industry to be aligned with these relatively short timeframes for both the design and construction phases of a project. SKA is a freely accessible tool that is entirely on-line with the guidance, assessment methodology and certification generated through the tool. SKA rating is designed to be of particular use for occupiers but has benefits for other property stakeholders, including landlords, developers, consultants, fit-out contractors, and members of the supply chain. Product selection is a key part of SKA.
