ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief overview of the disciplines of computer vision. It introduces objects and provides descriptions on various forms of representation of objects. It also highlights various applications of object detection in vision-based tasks. The chapter addresses various issues including indoor and outdoor real-world challenges faced by the research community for solving the object detection task. The organization of the book is also mentioned in the last subsection of this chapter.
