ABSTRACT

The development of datasets for evaluating the performance of object detection algorithms is increasing rapidly. Designing and collection of datasets have been a crucial component of object detection research throughout its history in order to measure and compare the performance of competing algorithms. These datasets have also pushed the field toward more difficult and complicated challenges. This chapter provides a detailed overview of benchmark public and private datasets in indoor and outdoor environments used by the researchers for qualitative and quantitative validation of their developed techniques. Also, the key characteristics of these datasets are highlighted and described in this chapter.
