ABSTRACT

MGWR is not the only model formulation that can identify contextual effects, and in Chapter 8 we compare the performance of MGWR with multilevel models and spatial error models with both a simulated dataset and an empirical dataset. Reassuringly, all three model formulations show the same general results in terms of the effect of intrinsic contextual effects, but MGWR is shown to be superior in handling both behavioral and intrinsic contextual effects. The chapter also contains a comparison between the application of MGWR and a machine learning application.
