ABSTRACT

Thin plates with AH36 were employed for butt-welded fabrication, while normal welding procedure and welding with transient thermal tension by induction heating were both considered. Computational parameters of induction heating were confirmed by means of experiment and FE computation beforehand; thermal cycles during induction heating and welding were both measured and compared. Not only the out-of-plane welding distortions with three-coordinate measured machine but also metallographic phases were measured and compared with different welding procedures.
