ABSTRACT
This chapter explains how the Systems Approach is a general term that includes both Systems Engineering and Systems Architecting. Some authors use the term “Systems Approach” as a general term for problem-solving. Some sources include Systems Architecting within Systems Engineering, but this book adopts the traditional approach of Rechtin and others and makes them separate disciplines, albeit with some overlap. Systems Engineering will be discussed in Chapter 4, and Systems Architecting will be discussed in Chapters 5 and 6.
