ABSTRACT

The modern-day healthcare landscape includes a significant reliance on health information technology (HIT), which provides an impetus for ensuring the design of products is informed by user experience (UX) research and usability tested prior to implementation. This book discusses mixed-methods UX research, including formative and summative methods to guide researchers, technical communicators, health information designers, and practitioners in conducting UX research in the health and healthcare space. Interviews, field studies, usability testing, and several standardized questionnaires will be covered, enabling researchers to select the best methods that apply to their study context and artifact under investigation.
