ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a broad overview of how content analysis can be used to guide the discovery and analysis of qualitative data in health informatics research. The primary uses of content analyses within the field of health informatics research will be discussed with a focus on three primary means of categorizing and transforming qualitative data into meaningful insight: inductive, deductive, and framework analysis. The coding techniques introduced in this chapter can be applied to analyze data collected from usability testing methods described in subsequent chapters.
