ABSTRACT
This chapter gives the background of smart manufacturing factory, customized manufacturing (CM) mode, and the overview and the frontier technologies of the artificial intelligence (AI)-driven CM factory. This chapter first starts with the analysis at the theoretical level and mainly summarizes the characteristics of CM, and it also presents the opportunities brought by AI-driven CM in smart manufacturing factory. The major topics covered are Edge Intelligence in Manufacturing, Heterogeneous Networks, Intelligent Fault Diagnosis and Maintenance, Resource Dynamic Scheduling in Manufacturing, and the Construction Mode of Intelligent Factory. The rationale of this book is explained, and a short overview of the chapters is also provided. It also discusses the opportunities and challenges of the AI-driven CM in smart manufacturing factory.
