ABSTRACT

Industrial networks provide infrastructure for the full interconnection of human, machine, material, and other production factors and promote the full flow and seamless integration of industrial data. However, the diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements, massive intelligent devices, and complex communication means lead to the coexistence of wired and wireless heterogeneous networks in smart factories, which brings great challenges to the realization of high interconnection, deep integration, and dynamic reconfiguration of smart factories. This chapter analyzes the cause, classification, and current solution framework of smart factory heterogeneous network, with an emphasis on network QoS optimization objectives, including low latency and high reliability, network load balancing, and high security and privacy protection.
