ABSTRACT

Aleen arrived in Jamaica on the morning of the 5th January 1937, intending to return to England on the 7th April. She stayed at the house of Mr Frank Cundall, another veterinary surgeon with whom she was friendly, and she intended to set off next morning on her riding tour. Instead she suffered a severe heart attack that very night. She recovered remarkably well, but was confined to her room for about ten days. After that she was able to go for drives but unfit for anything more strenuous. However, on the evening of Thursday, the 28th January, she felt much better and arranged to leave the Cundall's house to go and stay with some other friends for a few more days recuperation.
