ABSTRACT

The duct network and air-moving equipment of the heating system may be used by the summer air-conditioning system to avoid needless duplication of equipment. The primary function of a summer air-conditioning system is to cool and dehumidify the inside air of a building or area. Mechanical refrigeration achieves heat transfer by circulating a refrigerant through pipes into an area where cooling is desired. Evaporative cooling systems are unique compared with other methods of cooling. The essential parts of a cold-water cooling system are the supply water pump, the duct cooling coil, and a water discharge sump. Steam-jet cooling is based on an operational principle that deals with the relationship between pressure and the boiling point of a liquid. Some of the common types of cooling-system applications are: water chillers, independent system cooling, year-round air conditioning, and central cooling packages. The compressor of the mechanical refrigerator section of an air conditioner is considered to be the heart of the entire system.
