ABSTRACT

Brassicas are one the most popular oilseed crops of the world. Oilseed rape is now one of the major global sources of vegetable oil and the major crop grown in Europe for the production of vegetable oil. Under the name rapeseed and mustard, seven important annual oilseeds belonging to the Brassicaceae (Cruciferae) are grown in India. Approximately, 95% of species of Crucifers require cross-pollination, although some varieties are self-fruitful. Cross-pollination by honeybee increases yield, quality, and oil content of seed.
