ABSTRACT

This chapter is inspired by US Patent US20120116505A1, System and Device for Correcting Hyperopia and Presbyopia. It is also inspired by US000008123803B220120228 (https://www.pat2pdf.org" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">pat2pdf.org).

The present chapter includes an ophthalmic device and mounting system for correcting hyperopia and presbyopia. It includes a limbus ring mountable in an encircling relation to the central optic zone of the cornea on a limbus annulus surrounding the cornea. The limbus ring defines a substantially annular toroid with a first average diameter that is selectable and has a hydrophilic coating disposed thereon. The inner radius of the limbus ring is selectable such that upon mounting on the limbus annulus, the limbus ring causes the limbus annulus to contract, thereby increasing the curvature of the cornea and the eye length. The mounting system of the present chapter can be adapted to receive and selectively place a limbus ring on a limbus annulus.
