ABSTRACT

This chapter is inspired by US Patent Application 20120116505, System and Device for Correcting Hyperopia, Myopia and Presbyopia. It is also inspired by US020120116505A120120510 (https://www.pat2pdf.org" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">pat2pdf.org).

The present chapter includes an ophthalmic device and system of mounting for correcting hyperopia, myopia, and presbyopia. It includes a limbus ring mountable in an encircling relation to the central optic zone of the cornea on a limbus annulus surrounding the cornea. The limbus ring is substantially similar to an annular toroid defining a first average diameter that is selectable and has a hydrophilic coating disposed thereon. The inner radius of the limbus ring can be selected in such a way that when mounted on the limbus annulus, the limbus ring makes the limbus annulus to contract or expand, thereby increasing or decreasing the curvature of the cornea and the eye length. The mounting system of the present chapter is adapted to receive a limbus ring and selectively place it on the limbus annulus.
