ABSTRACT

In the kingdom Eumycota, true fungi are a varied and ubiquitous group of microorganisms. Fungal microorganisms are eukaryotic and heterotrophic. The vast majority of fungi are small, although some, such as mushrooms and bracket fungi, have huge fruiting bodies, few are anaerobic. The life cycle of the majority of fungus includes both sexual (teleomorph stage) and asexual (anamorph stage) reproduction. Spores are the primary method of reproduction for fungi. The name Chitrids derived from the greek word chitridion, meaning “little pot” describing the structure containing unreleased spores. They occur commonly in aquatic habitats, although many inhabit the soil. Early infection shows rapid cell division in the host tissues. The cells become enlarged due to hypertrophy and assume the shape of galls and forms warty out growth.
