ABSTRACT

Growing plants intentionally for fuel value is called energy plantations. Energy plantations are designed to provide a significant amount of usable fuel continuously throughout the year at a cost comparable to other fuels. An energy plantation is an economical way of using solar energy. In photosynthetic concepts, the efficiency of converting solar energy into plant material is about 1%, and the overall efficiency of converting solar energy into electricity would be about 0.3%. Storage of used solar energy is difficult if it is directly converted into thermal or electrical energy using heat consumers and photovoltaic systems. But the energy plantation is a good system in which the used solar energy can be stored for a longer period of time without any loss; they are also energy accumulators. Energy conversion from plant materials can be carried out over a wider range of periods based on the energy requirement, which is due to the longer maturity period of these types of species.
