ABSTRACT

The success of spraying operation, whether users are spraying small areas or large fields, depends upon accurate control of the application rate Fungicide recommendations are often expressed in kilograms of active ingredient per hectare (kg a.i./ha) or percentage concentration of active ingredient (% a.i) of the fungicide in the final diluted solution. Accurate calculation of the amount or quantity of fungicide required to spray in a given area, and a uniform application rate is essential for effective control of fungal microorganisms. The maintenance, after pesticide application, falls into two categories. First, there is the daily routine of cleaning, adjustment, greasing and lubrication. Freedom from breakdown and long life of the machine depend largely on this routine. Second, at the end of the season, all wearing parts, such as nozzles, pumps, valves, nuts and ball-bearings, should be inspected. Pesticide application equipment, like other machines, needs periodic repair and replacement of parts.
