ABSTRACT

Professional ethics are essential for any professional organization and profession. They are a set of codes that establish operating guidelines for any profession, which the members agree to abide by. These codes serve as overriding principles that provide professional organizations and their members with moral principles when serving the public. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) has an established Code of Ethics that every certificate holder must abide by. This code sets forth the code of ethics and professional standards to be observed by holders of documents of certification conferred by the BCSP. Certificants shall, in their professional activities, sustain and advance the integrity, honor, and prestige of the profession by adherence to these standards. BCSP may require the individual to sign a written agreement to comply with Interpretation #1 and to provide such evidence as may be required from time to time to satisfy BCSP that the individual remains in compliance.
