ABSTRACT
THE AORTA This, the main arterial trunk of the systemic circulation, arises from the left ventricle and ascends briefly before arching backwards over the root of the left lung to descend through the thorax and abdomen. Descriptively, it is divided into the ascending part, the arch, a descending thoracic part and an abdominal part.
