ABSTRACT

THE ORBITAL CAVITY AND EYEBALL The two pyramid-shaped orbital cavities (Fig. 19.1) lie within the facial skeleton. Each has a roof, a floor and medial and lateral walls, and contains the eyeball, extraocular muscles, vessels, nerves, lacrimal gland and fat. The periosteum of the orbit is continuous at the back of the orbit with the dura mater and sheath of the optic nerve.
