ABSTRACT
The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. The emerging cranial and spinal nerves pass through the meninges and form the peripheral nervous system. The autonomic nervous system overlaps both the central and peripheral nervous systems and is concerned with the innervation of smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and glands.
