ABSTRACT

Health Delivery Organizations (HDOs) generate a vast amount of data; but the question is, how to use this data to produce valuable insight to enhance decision making. One of the biggest challenges for HDOs is the integration of healthcare analytical data across the organization. In the past, most analysis for decision making used information collected in a heterogeneous manner. Beginning with business scorecards, the use of this tool has evolved from views of organizational performance to now involve sophisticated process and results measures. Ultimately, understanding the business and the data transformed into information to obtain insights is the main idea. As for healthcare analytics trends for 2016, many HDOs are using data to focus on facilitating value-based care, integrating clinical and claims data, improving patient care and outcomes through cross-referencing data analysis, using predictive analysis to improve outcomes, and leveraging new tools and skills to transform large amounts of data.
