ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes a new self-healing single flow controlled mobility within a cluster (SH-SFCMC) scheme to optimize the trade-off among self-healing-based mobility and energy consumption in mobile Unattended wireless sensor networks. It introduces the system model and assumptions. The system Model introduces the network model, adversary model, mobility model, and energy models. The chapter shows the trade-off between mobility and other network aspects. It describes the proposed SH-SFCCM scheme. The chapter presents the simulation setup and performance evaluation. It also presents the problem of energy consumption optimization associated with both motion and communication. The chapter also shows that mobility can increase the network coverage and connectivity. The self-healing mechanism is identical for both schemes; it depends mainly on both mobility and hybrid cooperation principal. The single flow controlled mobility of the proposed scheme does not disturb the number of neighbors per sensor and the network coverage. The most important trade-off is between mobility and communication.
