ABSTRACT

Developments in the area of gas turbines are aimed to increase their efficiency by raising gas stream temperature. For nickel superalloys, this has been achieved by increasing the g  ¢ fraction, the solvus temperature, or the content of refractory elements. However, the potential for improvement of nickel superalloys has been almost exhausted. Many researchers are attempting to develop new superalloys with higher temperature capabilities to replace the conventional nickel-based superalloys.
