ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors jointly consider computation offloading, spectrum and computation resource allocation and content caching in order to improve the performance of wireless cellular networks with mobile edge computing. They describe the network model and present the communication model, computation model and caching model in detail. The authors also consider the case where the spectrum used by small cells is overlaid, which means there exists interference between small cells. They assume that the interference only occurs when user equipment (UE) served by various small cell eNodeBs (SeNBs) occupy the same frequency simultaneously. The authors decouple the optimization problem in order to enable the application of a distributed optimization problem solving method, namely, the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). They discuss the average UE time consumption in the system for executing computation tasks, and employ the execution time expression.
