ABSTRACT

Gathering the ideas of a parallel assembly of Maxwell models, of visco-hyperelasticity and of quasi-linear viscoelasticity of Fung, a more general model consists in adding a long range memory that obeys the fading memory principle. While the number of degrees of freedom in devising nonlinear elastic constitutive equations is large, certain requirements of mathematical nature should always be satisfied. Further requirements of mechanical nature in line with the stress-strain response that is sought may be placed on the elements (strain energy function, constitutive tensors, etc.) that are used to develop the equations.
