ABSTRACT
From this chapter onward, we shall start applying the methods of Statistical Mechanics to derive useful expressions. Sometimes we shall derive known thermodynamic relations, like PV = RT, or https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781315113951/38b80d50-9b72-4816-a8b1-f0785f387cc6/content/inline-math7_1.tif"/> C V = 3 2 R (where R is the universal gas constant), but we shall also derive microscopic expressions which could not have been possible to derive without the method of Statistical Mechanics.
