ABSTRACT

Two media are used for transmission over wireless LANs, infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF). RF LANs are typically implemented in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) frequency bands at 902-928, 2400-2483.5, and 5725-5850MHz. These frequencies do not require a license allowing the LAN product to be portable, i.e., a LAN can be moved without having to worry about licensing.
