ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces designs of experiment that are conveniently analysed by analysis of variance, although the equivalence to multiple regression analyses using indicator variables is explained. The designs include: comparison of several means using independent random samples; two factors at multiple levels; randomized block designs; and split-plot designs which commonly arise in industrial investigations. The issue of multiple comparisons is discussed and least significant differences and the studentized range are introduced as follow up procedures. The chapter ends with: a summary of: notation used; the main results, MATLAB and R syntax; and exercises.
