ABSTRACT

The collection, processing, and management of data are key to the practice of asset management. Data needed for transportation asset management can be categorized into dimensions. Once the data needed is collected, data processing should be conducted for current usage. For transportation asset management, a data integration team contains decision makers, asset managers, database users, information technology and database management experts, and other key stakeholders. Data integration and sharing can familiarize agencies with their existing system, and consequently support transportation decision-making with the limited resources and other constraints considered. At the network level, data ought to be related to the transportation decision making including general planning, programming, and policy decisions. Sample surveys are widely used in transportation practice for reasons of cost and practicality. The advantage of the cluster sampling method is the ability to reduce the time and resources consumed in the sampling process.
