ABSTRACT

The Information Age era has led to the field of human–computer interaction (HCI). In 1957, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) was founded with the mission of promoting the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds. Soon after, the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) held its first meeting in 1961, and is now a federation of ergonomics and human factors societies from around the world. The IEA's mission is to elaborate and advance the Ergonomics science and practice, and to improve the quality of life by expanding its scope of application and contribution to society (IEA 2016).
