ABSTRACT
Making the right product that fulfills standards and regulations is critical and customers have become more and more aware of the financial effects for not meeting electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements and request for documentation. The V-model emphasized the need for testability of the design, meaning that a requirement is only valid if it is accompanied by a test methodology. Therefore, it is a very useful model to design-in electromagnetic compliance. The European EMC directive harmonizes the laws on electromagnetic compatibility in the EU Member States and was first introduced in 1992. Complex installations and complex systems involve large teams; therefore, it is beneficial to clearly define who is responsible for electromagnetic compliance within the organization. When designing and building a complex installation or large system, the project management plan contains multiple aspects, such as scope, requirements, risk, procurement, and quality. The CE Mark enables free trade among all European countries without restrictions, because it implies conformance to European regulation.
