ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the implementation of the incremental approaches for a prototype inference controller for provenance in a medical domain. It develops the inference controller that protects the sensitive information stored in a provenance database from unauthorized users. An inference controller is a device that is used to detect or prevent the occurrence of the inference problem. The chapter presents the design of an inference controller that employs inference strategies and techniques built around semantic web technologies. The interface manager hides the actual internal representation of an inference controller from a user by providing a simple question–answer mechanism. Traditional database management techniques will be inadequate for implementing the inference controllers. The chapter utilizes big data management techniques to manage the massive amounts of data that has to be managed by the inference controller. The cloud-based inference controller will process powerful policies applied to large quantities of data.
