ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author describes architecture with social responsibility using his project, and discusses integrated strategies to achieve carbon neutrality using another project as a case study. He discusses the design process and the digital and analog tools that can be used to achieve high performing buildings. The quality of buildings and spaces has a strong influence on the quality of people’s lives, and poor and disadvantaged people are far more likely to live in poor quality environments. Social sustainability is also about inclusion and providing quality environments for all. The buildings would also incorporate many green features, including passive strategies, and incorporating daylight and views with all their benefits, increasing the connection between the occupants and the environment around it. In addition to the specific theme clusters, there are general support spaces that exist in all homes and that must respond to the needs of a community of adults with autism.
