ABSTRACT

In this chapter some combinatorially defined sets of points in projective and affine planes are considered. Arcs and blocking sets are interesting objects in their own right, and they also have several important applications to other areas of mathematics, for example, coding theory, cryptography and graph theory. Throughout this chapter the word “plane” without any attribute means any projective or affine plane.
