ABSTRACT

The space out of the system but within the universe is the environment. This chapter shows the general relationship between a system and its environment. “Environment” is one of the key words very often used here and there in our local and global societies. The most immediate environment of human body as a system is the built environment. With this relationship between the systems and the global environment, the chapter schematically shows the relationship between a human as a system and its immediate environment together with the nested structural relationship between other larger systems and environmental spaces. The purpose of bio-climatology is to seek the rational way of constructing and running the built environment for human well-being. Bio-climatology for built environment shall hopefully be one of the sets of linguistic information contributing to the sustainability of our social environment.
