ABSTRACT

Among the major activities in the analysis of experimental data is the performance of tests of hypotheses and the calculation of confidence intervals. In order to proceed in that direction, we need to discover distributions that permit us to carry out these types of inference procedures. As in beginning courses in statistics, in this textbook we will be using test statistics that usually have t or F distributions. As we shall see, both of these distributions incorporate quadratic forms as “building blocks” in their construction.
