ABSTRACT
In the last section we observed that certain geometrical problems can be reformulated as being equivalent to solving a system of linear equations. Now let us completely forget about our original geometric motivation and let us study systems of linear equations in general. Such systems arise in many areas in which mathematics is applied. Let us just present two examples before we enter a mathematical discussion, one from electrical engineering and one from economics.
